Why Exercise Doesn't Get Any Easier
Do you have a trainer or take classes, exercise regularly, and wonder why it’s not getting any easier? Last week my husband and one of my clients said something to me that gave me a “light bulb” moment.
As a trainer, I know that when I see exercises or workouts getting easier for my clients, it’s time to make them more challenging in some way. What I didn’t realize is that my clients might not know that, and instead may wonder why they’re never improving.
Check out the video below for more details on how you can always keep challenging yourself in order to get the results you want!
Key takeaways:
If you have a trainer and are exercising consistently, and you find your workouts are getting harder, it's likely not because you're out of shape, but the exact opposite! You're doing so well that your trainer is making adjustments to keep you challenged and continue your progress/growth, without explicitly telling you.
If your workouts don’t challenge you, you should have a talk with your trainer, as you're likely not getting the benefits you're after. (If you're not working with a trainer, it's a good sign you need to make your workouts harder, and hiring one is a perfect opportunity to do so!)
Modifying/regressing your workout or exercises isn’t cheating as long as it’s still challenging you. If you have an injury or if you’re not yet strong enough to do an exercise, and as a consequence don’t feel it in the appropriate spot, MODIFY/REGRESS IT! This is necessary for your grow/improvement and to just overall just take care of yourself.
